We are Alyssa Fuller and Allison Gilchrist, roommates and two rising seniors for the Class of 2011 at Syracuse University. We have come from different academic backgrounds (Alyssa from Public Health and Allison from Internat'l Relations/PoliSci), but these paths have led us to the same state of mind. We both have a strong sense of urgency to channel our education and drive into practical application.
So, where do we channel all of this energy and passion, you ask? Into the things we genuinely love, of course. We love the outdoors, we love to travel, and we love the idea of doing our part to change the world. Why not start our own mission? What exactly could stop us? Nothing. The sky is the limit (or really, in this case, I guess the summit is the limit).
With all of this in mind, we decided to call our mission 'Acclimating for Change.' After we graduate in May of 2011, we want to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, and to do it for a cause we strongly believe in. We're working out the finer details of what that will entail, but a brief overview of our goals are:
-To train to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro after graduation
-To select the specific cause we will be climbing for, and target organizations
-To work to gain support and sponsorship along the way for ourselves as well as our cause
-Choose the gear!
-And finally, to climb
Stay tuned, because we've got a lot on our minds :)
